About Dokokoko
Dokokoko is an all-in-one information service for independent travelers in Japan. It is built around what drivers in Japan find most tedious, finding parking and comparing rates.
Japanese coin parking lots charge different rates at different times of day, and the conditions for daily maximums vary from lot to lot. Signs are often written only in Japanese, so first-time visitors find it hard to estimate the cost in advance. Dokokoko lays these fee systems out in plain language and aims to show exactly how much you will pay once you enter how long you will stay.
What we offer
Who runs it
Dokokoko is a personal site run by one person. I started collecting Japanese parking data in January 2026, and I check and enter each lot's rates and conditions myself. Nothing is scraped and published automatically.
If you spot a rate that differs from reality or a lot that is missing, please let me know via Report a parking lot. For anything else, use the Contact page.
Where the data comes from
Parking locations and basic details come from OpenStreetMap, open map data that anyone can view. Open data often has missing or inaccurate rates, though, so rate information is entered by hand after checking on-site signs and the operators' official information.
There are currently 373,989 parking lots on the map, and 4,397 of them have complete rate information and appear in search results. Lots whose rates have not been confirmed are left out of search results so we never pass on wrong information.
Lots with rate information, by region
- Kanto 1,272
- Chubu 815
- Kansai 931
- Chugoku & Shikoku 427
- Kyushu & Okinawa 482
- Hokkaido & Tohoku 470
How rates are calculated
A Japanese parking rate table is not a simple hourly price. Rates change between weekdays and weekends and between day and night, and a cap may apply once you park beyond a certain time. Even within one lot, some spaces are priced differently depending on the space number.
- Rate bands split by day of the week and time of day are reflected as they are
- The conditions for daily maximums, and whether they repeat, are calculated separately
- Lots with different rates for different space ranges show each range separately
- Lots with separate holiday rates or opening hours have those conditions applied too
When comparing several lots, the basis must be the same or the ranking flips around. Dokokoko sorts lists using the rate for one hour from 9 a.m. on a weekday as the common basis.
Fee simulator
Enter your entry and exit times for any lot to see how much you will actually pay. You get the total without decoding the rate table yourself, along with a breakdown of what was charged in each band.
- When a daily maximum applies, it shows how much you saved
- Overnight stays that exit the next day are calculated with the change of day taken into account
- Lots where the maximum applies only once per stay are flagged separately
- The search list is re-sorted to match the calculated results
The bigger the price gap, as with overnight or long stays, the more it pays to compare in advance.
About accuracy
Parking rates and opening hours can change without notice depending on local conditions. Construction, events or seasonal pricing can make the actual rate differ from what is listed, so please use Dokokoko's information as a reference before your visit and always confirm the final rate on the sign at the lot.

Send us a report
It is hard for one person to check every parking lot in Japan. If you find a lot that is not listed yet, or a listed rate that differs from what you saw on site, please let us know. We check each report and update the data.
- Missing parking lots (just the name, location or rate you know is fine)
- Including a Google Maps link helps us register it more accurately
- Corrections when a rate or opening hours differ from reality
You can send reports on the parking report page. No sign-up is needed; just leave your email if you would like a reply.
